Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre - Hydrotherapy Pool
Mainzeal Constuction, Wellington City Council, Screw Piles
|PRINCIPAL||Wellington City Council|
|TIMEFRAME||November - December 2011|
This was Richardson Drilling's first contract involving screwed piles presenting an exciting opportunity to venture into this market.
With screwed piles being a design and build contract, the first process was to provide detailed specifications and calculations to the Project Engineers to support the use of a fairly new product, with the proposed design ultimately proven by several 10-hour static load tests undertaken in accordance with AS 2159. This test was required for each pile type and carried out separately for compression and uplift loads.
We were contracted to install 37 screwed piles at a depth of 4m, with ULS ranging from 180 - 550kN compression loads, and 50 - 300kN tension loads.
